Meanings and Makings of Queer Dance

Conference Venue
The conference will be held at two sites on the University of Michigan’s central campus, which is just east of downtown Ann Arbor. The registration desk, paper panels, and the Thursday night workshop will be in the Michigan League at 911 N. University Avenue. Performances and Friday/Saturday workshops will be in the Dance Department at 1310 N. University Court.
Accommodations
There are two hotel room blocks reserved for the campus: one small block in the on-campus inn at the Michigan League and a larger block at the Ann Arbor Sheraton. To get the conference room rate at either location, you must make a reservation by January 16. Rooms are reserved under the title “Queer Dance Conference.”
Conference Room Rate: $135/night (with an additional fee of $10/night for an extra person)
Getting to/from conference: The Inn is the 4th floor of the building where the conference will take place and across Washtenaw Avenue from the Dance Department.

Getting to/from conference: Sheraton has shuttle service to campus. The city bus system also runs from Sheraton to campus. Look for the #36 bus.
Traveling to Ann Arbor
Closest airport: DTW (Delta hub)
DTW is 27 miles from downtown Ann Arbor . Cabs from DTW to campus run between $50 and $60 one way. A cheaper option is the Michigan Flyer, which leaves DTW approximately every hour-and-a-half and drops off at the Sheraton, the main conference hotel. One-way tickets are $20. The University of Michigan campus is just off I-94 and US 23. From the west, Ann Arbor is about a four-hour drive from Chicago. From the east, Ann Arbor is 50 minutes from Detroit. From the south, Ann Arbor is three-and-a-half hours from Columbus, Ohio.
Ann Arbor’s train station is approximately one mile north of the University’s Central campus. Amtrak trains run several times per day to/from Chicago.
Ann Arbor’s Greyhound bus station is a few blocks west of campus.
