The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of New Mexico has a tenure track opening in the Dance program beginning August 2015. RANK: Assistant Professor: Dance Studies/Contemporary Dance

Salary: $50,000

This is a probationary position leading to a tenure decision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching: Three courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate level in performance/dance studies and contemporary/modern dance technique. Ability to teach one or more of the following: dance history, interdisciplinary studies, dance and technology, pedagogy, conditioning for dancers, choreography

Artistic/Scholarly Activity: research and publication/performance in area of expertise, choreograph for faculty productions.

Service: Team member in further development of undergraduate and graduate dance curriculum and building strong MFA and MA degrees; mentor and advise undergraduate dance majors and graduate dance students; mentor undergraduate and graduate choreography projects, direct dance concerts in rotation with other dance faculty members; serve as member of various departmental, college, and university committees

Minimum Qualifications
MFA and/or PhD by appointment date or equivalent professional experience
Evidence of research and writing in area of expertise with proof of publication and/or professional performance
Two years Experience teaching lecture/studio classes at the university level
Experience teaching one of the following: performance/dance studies, dance history, dance criticism, writing about dance, dance appreciation

Preferred Qualifications
Four years proven professional activity in creative/scholarly research
Four years experience in teaching at the university level two or more of the following: performance/dance studies, contemporary/modern dance technique, dance history, interdisciplinary studies, dance and technology, pedagogy, conditioning for dancers, choreography
Administrative and grant writing experience
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
