The Department of Dance at Texas Woman’s University is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Dance starting in August 2015. The successful candidate must have a terminal degree (M.F.A., Ph.D. preferred) with expertise in dance technique, dance education, student teacher mentorship and community education.

The candidate should have teaching experience in high school and/or university and an ability to teach in the studio program. The successful candidate will be an inspiring teacher who can work collegially with others and demonstrate an ability to work with individuals from a variety of communities and educational contexts. The candidate is expected to contribute to the department, school and university through committee service and faculty shared-governance responsibilities. Dance education leadership and program assessment skills desirable.

Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses such as Dance Technique, Theories of Teaching, Children’s Dance, Dance & Community Practice, Dance History, Graduate Pedagogy and Current Trends in Dance Education, and Research, as well as, advising undergraduate and graduate students and coordinating dance education programs and outreach. This faculty member should maintain artistic/pedagogical research and have an interest in collaborating with Denton/Dallas/Fort Worth high school dance departments and participating in national/international dance education organizations.
