Texas Tech University's Department of Theatre & Dance invites artist-educators to apply for a
position as a tenure-able, Full Professor of Dance and Head of the Dance Program. The successful
candidate will begin service in this position at the beginning of the fall semester, 2015.

Qualifications: MFA or PhD in Dance, or EdD and a minimum of three years experience directing a
university dance program; experience developing and implementing a dance education curriculum
preferred; experience with NASD accreditation processes preferred.

Position Description: The successful candidate will:

• be an experienced dance educator;
• develop a BA in dance education to be fully implemented by the 2018-2019 academic year;
• have university-level teaching experience in dance pedagogy and at least two of the following
areas: dance history, non-Western dance forms, critical theory, and/or dance technique; experience
in dance techniques preferred;
• demonstrate strong teaching ability and record of successful creative endeavors and/or
research activities;
• facilitate the administration of the dance program, including but not limited to: scheduling
courses and instructors, developing and maintaining program outcomes and assessments, engaging
in peer evaluation of teaching, making hiring recommendations concerning adjunct instructors,
serving as the representative of the dance program to the campus and community; maintaining the
dance program's accreditation with NASD, and coordinating all administrative duties of the dance
program, including student advising and supervision of student organizations and sponsored off-
campus activities;
• give strong evidence of the ability and desire to perform service to the department and
university, work well with colleagues, act as a collaborative departmental citizen, and continue to
engage in professional performance and/or choreography and/or scholarship.
Salary: The salary is competitive and dependent upon experience and qualifications.

The Department of Theatre and Dance provides dance education in a liberal arts setting. We stand
committed to a lively combination of academic studies with practical production experience. Our
nineteen faculty members hold degrees from leading programs and are supported by seven
professional staff members. We serve approximately 180 undergraduate students in both theatre and
dance and 60 graduate students who pursue the following degrees: BA degrees in dance and theatre
arts; BFA, MA, and MFA degrees in theatre; and an interdisciplinary PhD in fine arts. We are a
dynamic faculty with a strong work ethic and a commitment to collaborative work in a collegial and
mutually supportive environment. Our graduates head arts programs throughout the region and across
the country and work in professional venues on both coasts as well as in film and television. Texas
Tech, a comprehensive university with a strong liberal arts base, has a student body of 33,000. The
university is an excellent place to learn and teach. Lubbock, the hub of the South Plains, has a
