The Florida State University School of Dance seeks a collaborative faculty advocate to promote a shared vision, provide leadership, and procure resources to support School initiatives.

With an eighty-year history, the School of Dance pioneered the conservatory within the university model. Today, the program continues to be nationally regarded and hailed as the “gem in the crown” of Florida State University. Situated within a top ranked research university, the school houses the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC), and offers students immersive educational experiences in New York City, Paris, France, and Valencia, Spain. Alongside both academic and professional programs (BFA, MA, MFA), faculty and students are provided robust performance opportunities in exceptional facilities that house seven dance studios, proscenium and blackbox theaters, audio, video, photography and digital media studios and labs, a dance conditioning studio, and technology-enhanced classrooms. Current and emerging foci include programs in the dance sciences, digital media technology, and advanced studies in dance history and theory.

Qualifications desired include a terminal degree or equivalent professional experience in dance or a related field; demonstrated record of administrative skills and leadership; demonstrated excellence in teaching, creative activity, and/or research; developed abilities in personnel relations; commitment to the development and promotion of undergraduate and graduate programs in dance; commitment to diversity and balance in regard to personnel and program.
