The Tufts University Department of Drama & Dance seeks applicants for a full-time faculty lecturer position in Dance commencing Fall 2015. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate introductory and intermediate dance courses and providing service to the program.

MFA or PhD degree in dance, dance education, or a dance research-related field. A minimum of three years full- or part-time college/university teaching experience required. Experience is required in designing and teaching semester-long studio courses that include viewing, reading, and written work, and placing dance in its socio-historical context.

Areas of Specialization in Teaching
Expertise in one or more non-Western dance forms (African, Latin, or Afro-Caribbean; South or North Indian; Japanese Kabuki, Asian, South East Asian or Polynesian; Middle Eastern or International Folk Dance). An ability to teach an upper-level class in one or more of the following subject areas: a traditional western form such as ballet, modern, jazz, or dance for musical theater; cross-cultural dance studies; dance anthropology; dance film and technology; dance education; and/or Laban Movement Analysis.

The Tufts Dance Program, Department of Drama and Dance
The Tufts Dance Program is housed within the Department of Drama & Dance and offers an array of experientially based studio and lecture-based courses. Studio courses range from beginning ballet, modern, contemporary jazz, and world dance forms such as West African, Kathak, and Latin dance, to advanced studies in creative process, choreography, and performance. Lecture courses rotate across subject areas in the field, including dance history and aesthetics, dance education, and contemporary cross-disciplinary studies of dance. Facilities include two dedicated studios with sprung flooring; one of the studios converts into a performance space that seats 100.
