DANCE INSTRUCTOR AND CHOREOGRAPHER

The Macalester College Theatre and Dance Department invites applications for a faculty position in the Dance Program beginning August 2015. This is a part-time appointment with a salary of $35,000 – $36,000, benefits-eligible. The appointment includes choreographing for an annual concert, teaching dance theory and studio-based technique courses, and participating in departmental activities. The position will call upon the successful applicant’s reach as both a teacher/scholar and practitioner. Qualifications: College-level teaching experience required; MFA preferred.



Responsibilities:

*Teach beginning through advanced modern dance or ballet technique


*Teach a combination of dance theory courses that may include, for example, a somatics-based course, dance history, and/or cultural studies

*Choreograph work on students for a main-stage concert

*Serve as an artistic adviser for student choreographers

*Participate in departmental activities
