Assistant Professor of Dance

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach various levels of ballet and modern technique courses; teach one or more lecture courses per semester including History and Philosophy of Dance; choreograph each semester for the faculty dance concert; direct one dance concert per year; significant participation in recruiting and advising. Combination of teaching, choreography and direction will total a 12 credit hours per semester teaching load.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: MFA in Dance, or MA in Dance plus significant professional equivalency. Degree must be from an accredited institution.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Professional performance experience; experience teaching and choreographing in ballet and modern dance; ability to teach courses in one or more of the following: Improvisation, Choreography, Pedagogy, Music for Dancers, Dance Appreciation, Dancer Health. Experience in various forms of commercial dance and musical theatre also desired.

Colorado Mesa University is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, tenure-track appointment to begin Fall, 2015.
