Job Description:
The Department of Music and Dance in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts announces a search for a (tenure track) Assistant Professor of Dance/Dance Education who is experienced in community engagement and has a creative/performing background. Position begins September 1, 2017.  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:
Teach courses in dance education, and in one or more of the following areas: dance technique (ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, or hip hop), and one or more courses aimed at both dance students and general education students, such as Dance History, Dance Composition, Dance Science, or Dance and Culture. The candidate will be expected to collaborate in the expansion and promotion of the undergraduate BFA and BA programs, including curriculum review and development, and will share in the administration of the dance program, including, but not limited to, participating in department and program meetings, strategic planning, student advising, student recruitment and retention, and other responsibilities. S/he will contribute to the mission of the UMass dance program and advocate for the Five College Dance Department and the UMass community. Other duties may include supervising student concerts and attending departmental and university events throughout the academic year.
