    The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dance for their Performing Arts Program beginning September 2015.   Salaries are competitive and may be higher depending upon qualifications and experience; excellent benefits.

    Teach beginning to advanced levels of contemporary and ballet techniques, and courses in the General Studies curriculum.   Teaching load: five courses, plus choreographic and production work equal to a sixth course.  Beyond ballet and modern techniques, expertise in two or more of the following areas is desirable: movement for actors, costume design and construction, jazz styles, musical theatre dance, acting, composition, contemporary partnering, anatomy/kinesiology, improvisation, dance production, grant writing, introduction to dance, dance history, teaching methods, dance criticism, and social dance.   Web design and audio-video editing skills a plus.  Duties will include choreographing for and helping produce Dance Program productions; assisting with administrative duties of the Dance Program that include concert production, student advising, and the supervision of student organizations and sponsored off-campus activities.

    MFA, Ph.D. or Ed.D is required by date of appointment, with professional and/or choreographic experience.  A successful candidate will demonstrate high artistic, academic, professional, and ethical standards; a record of successful creative and academic endeavors; a strong professional background; and a record of teaching excellence in ballet and/or one of the dance techniques that are the foundation of modern dance.  Candidates must present clear evidence of the ability and willingness to work as a collaborative colleague and to fill leadership roles in program and college activities.   The successful applicant will also be expected to engage in sustained scholarly research and/or creative work appropriate to the position.   Academic experiences with culturally diverse populations desired.

    The Dance Program functions within the liberal arts tradition at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.   Students in the Dance Program major in one of six different tracks that relate to their specific areas of interest, including performance, choreography, studio ownership, physical therapy, teaching, etc., and pursue careers in those areas.   The emphasis in the department is on encouraging students to create, perform, and think about movement in a manner that connects with their experiences in the other fine and liberal arts.

    Full-time, tenure-track position beginning August, 2015

    This is a 9-month tenure-track faculty position with an academic rank of Assistant Professor. The position requires teaching all levels of technique along with courses in the faculty member's area of research.  The faculty member will support the curriculum and mission of the program while building a strong artistic profile and/or research agenda that expands and complements the existing expertise in the department. The faculty member will also be responsible for choreographing works for faculty concerts, student mentoring, advising, coordinating student activities and shows, supporting accreditation, and developing curriculum.     Department of Elementary Education General Duties & Responsibilities: 
    1. Teach pre-service courses in arts education (your area of specialization) for elementary school classroom teaching majors (approximately 50% of load).

    Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program Responsibilities: 
    1. Collaborate with university-endowed chairs, Art Works for Kids, and USOE to oversee and implement the BTSALP program statewide.
    2. Ensure that BTSALP specialists in the Southern Utah University region receive support, mentoring and professional development.
    3. Write, oversee, and report on grants from USOE and other arts education entities for program support.

    Minimum Qualifications: 
    Doctorate preferred, masters with significant professional accomplishment or national board certification considered.  (Non-MFA master's degrees do not qualify for tenure track status but will be considered and could be hired on an extended year non-tenure track contract.)

    Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the collegiate and public/private elementary school levels.

    Specialty in at least one area of the art disciplines (Art, Music, Drama, Dance-Movement).

    A big part of this job is interaction with teachers, students, principals and superintendents in the public schools in southern Utah. This person will meet state government officials and university administration.  Therefore, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

    Reputation and potential for developing prominence at the state/national level through scholarly/creative activities, professional service and leadership in state or national professional arts organizations.

    Demonstrated leadership and scholarship in arts education including research interests in developmentally appropriate practice for elementary school arts teaching and innovation in program development and implementation.

    Experience in grant writing, financial management and fiscal responsibility is fundamental.

    The Department of Theatre & Dance at the University at Buffalo,, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dance Studies. We seek a dance scholar who will maintain a robust research agenda and establish themselves as a leader and innovator in the field. This individual will significantly contribute teaching expertise to our graduate study and undergraduate Dance programs and will actively participate in ongoing curriculum development, including the design and implementation of a new MFA Dance program.
