Call for Abstracts for Papers/Presentations
for the ACA Masculinities Area of the
2004 National PCA/ACA Conference
(Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association)
to be held April 7-10 in San Antonio, TX at the Marriott Rivercenter

*****************************************************************
Abstracts on any aspect of Masculinity or Masculinity Studies are welcome.
A list of suggested topics is provided below.
The deadline for abstracts (100-200 words) is Nov. 15, 2003.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. Conference participants are permitted to present only one paper at the conference.
2. You will receive email notification of acceptance status within two weeks of submission. Then, formal acceptance letters will be sent to you in December.
3. You may form and submit for consideration a single paper/presentation or a
complete panel (four 15-minute papers/presentations).
4. Let me know if you wish to serve as a Chair for either your panel or one of the
other panels in the Masculinities Area.
5. This year, the National PCA/ACA is a joint conference with the SW/Texas
PCA/ACA. Thus, spaces and times are limited and we cannot afford to
allot spaces to people who cannot attend. In order to participate in the
conference and to be listed in the program, you must pay a conference
registration fee and an association membership fee (either the PCA or the
ACA) before January 15, 2004. Otherwise, your name will be removed from the
program, which will be available online in late January. The conference pre-
registration fee for professionals is $125 and association membership is $50
for one year ($175 total). The conference pre-registration fee for students,
unemployed, or retired is $60 and association membership is $50 ($110 total).
Please make sure that you have appropriate funding before you submit a
conference abstract.
6. I encourage you to incorporate a visual element (handouts, slides, and/or video
clips) into your paper/presentation. A TV/VCR and a Slide Projector/Screen
will be available in each presentation room at the conference.
7. Graduate student submissions are encouraged.
8. Please note that the conference dates coincide with some spring holidays. Also, the
conference begins (and panels will be scheduled) on early Wednesday morning
(April 7) and continue until Saturday evening (April 10). Please keep these
dates in mind when making your travel plans.
9. Please visit the National PCA/ACA 2004 Conference website for more
information: http://www.h-net.org/~pcaaca/2004/
